A Magical Winter Wedding in Charlottesville Virginia

A Winter Wedding in Charlottesville Virginia

Justin and Erin chose to something unique for their winter wedding in Charlottesville Virginia: a New Years Eve Wedding! What a day this was!

I would love to see winter weddings become more popular! There is something magical about creating a romantic, luxurious, cozy affair celebrating your love with your family and friends. Justin & Erin planned an evening ceremony, the most stunning reception with tables full of candles, flowers and china, and a balloon drop bringing in the new year.

The Venue

The Wool Factory, one of Charlottesville’s gems, is part of the Historic Woolen Mills built in the mid 1800’s. It is a beautiful industrial space. The buildings are grandiose with the indoor rooms featuring exposed brick, high ceilings, and tall windows letting in creamy natural light.

The Wool Factory offers their couples access to a spacious Main Hall, Workshop Loft for a getting ready room, and the private dining room of their Broadcloth Restaurant. The Wool Factory can seat 360+ guests with endless layout options for ceremonies and receptions. It is a blank canvas with the limitless potential for wedding design!

The Details

A minimalist vibe works so well with this space and Erin’s details were classy in every way. Her simple hairstyle and sleek A-line wedding gown complimented by an elegant bouquet of white roses worked their magic; she looked like royalty.

The Colors

Justin and Erin kept things classic and minimal with a black and white color palette, infused with accents of gold and pops of color in the floral decor by Good Earth Flowers. The wedding party were dressed in black, and the bridesmaids carried small bouquets of simple white roses. The effect was stunning.

The Ceremony

Candles and greenery were everywhere. The center aisle led to a bohemian carpet lined with candles and a beautiful installation of hanging greenery was the backdrop to the ceremony. As evening settled in and the candles were lit, the reception space transformed into a magical sea of romantic light, perfect for a relaxing dinner with all your favorite people.

The Party

After dinner the energy in the room was electric! Younger guests danced for hours while the older ones chatted around the table…some joining in for dancing to their favorite tunes. At 11:30, a midnight snack was served, along with fun party hats and noisemakers. 20 seconds to midnight, the DJ started the countdown to the balloon drop! Soon after, Justin & Erin ran through the line of guests waving sparklers to their getaway car, a sweet ending to a truly dreamy New Years Eve wedding.
