Originally constructed in 1820, Northfield was one of the largest estates in the county. After a devastating fire in the 1930’s, and the estate was rebuilt keeping with the style and feel of the original home. A venerable 300 year old willow tree in front of the house still remains, holding the secrets of the past. Northfield has been renovated to preserve the charm of its history, while creating a luxurious wedding space with an elevated vibe.

The Grounds

Outdoor ceremony options at this gorgeous Virginia wedding venue include a massive 300 year-old willow tree or a lower terrace patio accessed by grand staircase. A spacious and elegant sailcloth tent just behind the house is the perfect spot for a romantic wedding reception.

Indoor Spaces

Northfield Estate offers spacious getting ready rooms with beautiful natural light, and a comfortable groom’s cottage detached from the main house with all the amenities. The tall windows in every room along with neutral colors on every wall create the most beautiful blank canvas for photography. The indoor spaces were designed with intention with a luxury look and the comfort of every guest in mind!

Northfield’s indoor magic continues with a 1100 square foot ballroom that can accommodate more intimate wedding celebrations. A beautiful indoor option for cocktail hour, the ballroom features gorgeous crystal chandeliers and floor to ceiling windows, and fireplaces perfect for an awe-inspiring floral installation.

This Autumn editorial, designed by Emerald Events by Nilsa, perfectly displayed the wedding and reception spaces at Northfield Estate. Full embracing the colors of the season, dripping with florals and enhanced by soft velvet, this elevated wedding design brought October romance to life with a quiet ceremony under the big willow tree and a reception underneath Northfield’s sailcloth tent ending with cake and champagne.
