Classy engagement session outfits for him and her

Classy engagement session outfits

Getting ready to take your engagement photos? You’re in the right place! I compiled some classy engagement session outfits that you will LOVE, along with some tips to help you prepare for your session.

As a photographer with a soft, romantic style I encourage my clients to work within a light/neutral color palette, so that the colors and outfits compliment instead of stealing attention from the face. I also encourage dressing up! Looking back at these photos will remind you of that time of anticipation and excitement and maybe even a little bit of craziness as you planned your wedding celebration. You’ll keep them forever. And you can make them even more special and beautiful by putting some extra thought and effort into your outfit choices!

I hope some of these classy engagement session outfits resonates with you and gives you inspiration as you plan. I’ve included links to most of the pieces for your convenience!

Option 1

Flowy dresses photograph so well. Add a pretty earring and colored shoe. For him, a navy blazer and a linen neutral shirt. These outfits would be perfect for a session at a winery or a downtown location with white architecture.

Option 2

A white dress & sandals for her, and linen beige button up for him. Still classy, but laid back and easy. Add some fun jewelry and you’re ready to go!

Tip: make sure to take everything out of your pockets and off your wrists before you start your session! Phone, wallet, keys, hairbands, smart watches. All of those will show up in photos!

Option 3

Dress up a pair of jeans with this square neck top and heels. For him, simple light grays and a nice pair of boots.

Option 4

I adore this look. Make a statement while still staying neutral in color. Fun earrings for her and a sweater/shirt combo for him. Can someone please wear these exact outfits and let me photograph you?

Option 5

This warm color combination is everything I love to photograph.

Tip for her: treat yourself and get your hair and makeup done for your session! You’ll love how it will elevate the look of your photos!

Option 6

This one is for the glam girls and for the guys who aren’t afraid to wear a little floral. If you lived in Virginia, I’d probably suggest a location like Waterperry Farm for your photos. A garden party vibe.

Option 7

A more playful way to style that blue and white color palette! For him, this is more casual way to style a floral shirt. And you can’t go wrong with a short dress & boots.

Option 8

Are you seeing a pattern with color palettes I love? There are a million ways to style warm, neutral colors and this beige/pink combination is incredible classy.

Tip for him: a belt and a nice pair of shoes really brings your outfit together. Don’t skip the belt or wear sloppy footwear!

Option 9

Lean into your bohemian side with this fun combination! Perfect for photos on a summer evening in an open field.

Tip: Outfit colors don’t have to be perfectly matching. This dress and shirt colors compliment, but they are not the same. This will add visual interest to your photos!

Option 10

Use color blocking to make your photos pop! These solid black and white outfits would look great at a grand architectural location like the Monuments in DC. For her: dress all white either up or down with a statement dress or wide leg pants.
